Rudding Park – Claire and Martyn’s wedding photography previews
We had another amazing day at Rudding Park recently, photographing Claire and Martyn’s civil ceremony and Chapel blessing.
Claire got ready in the new wing at Rudding Park, together with her bridesmaids. The colour theme was pale yellow/lemon, and the gents wore deep brown morning suits.
The bride’s gorgeous bridal bouquet was supplied by resident florist Colette Swinburn .
The main wedding ceremony took place inside the chapel at Rudding Park, which was beautifully lit with candles. The ceremony was conducted by the Rev Ian Walton, with his usual good humour. We often see a symbolic part of the wedding ceremony, whereby the families are brought together by representatives of the families of the bride and groom light two of three candles early in the ceremony. The bride and groom later light a third, central, candle, with flames from the other two, as a symbolic joining of the families – these are known as the unity candles.
Rev Ian took this a step further with Claire and Martyn. He had a unity drinks ceremony, where he mixed champagne and beer into a single cup, which the happy couple shared with straws. The joining of the families is an important part of the ceremony, but it’s always special to see things done differently. Rev Ian manages this with a light heartedness that doesn’t take away from the solemnity of the occasion. I love photographing his weddings, there’s often a lovely surprise, or something a little different to photograph.
Claire and Martyn enjoyed canapes and drinks in the afternoon, and dinner in The Crosby Suite upstairs.
