Hazlewood Castle weddings of Emma and Stephen
Last weekend’s Hazlewood Castle wedding was one of those weddings where everything just runs smoothly from beginning to end, with a happy bride throughout, and a gang of happy smiley bridesmaids, what more would you wish for? Well, good weather is always nice, and after the run of rain we’ve had recently, I think last weekend finally signalled the onset of some fine weather at last.
Emma and Stephen were recommended to us by Sarah and John, who’s wedding we photographed a few years ago, and Sarah was one of Emma’s bridesmaids.
The day started at York Marriott Hotel in the Penthouse Suite overlooking York Racecourse. Emma had obviously treated herself, wearing Benjamin Adam shoes and an Ian stuart dress, and she looked gorgeous. If ever there was a happy bride it was Emma, she laughed and smiled all day.
The wedding ceremony was at St Stephen’s Church in Acomb, York, and afterwards the wedding reception and breakfast was at Hazlewood Castle, a favourite venue of ours. The gardens look good all year round, but after the rain we’ve had lately, they looked particularly lush.
The Great Hall was brightly decorated in strong pinks, with pink uplighters on the walls. Emma’s Aunt Julie (‘Me Julie’) gave a lovely speech, followed by Emma, Stephen and Stephen’s best man. Dancing was to Hazlewood’s resident DJ, with a specially hired sparkly dance floor. I’ve not seen the sparkly dance floor before, but I bet they’ll be all the rage next year and beyond, they look brilliant.
Emma and Stephen – have a great time away, see you when you get back, can’t wait to show the rest of your wedding photographs, we have some ‘crackers’. I’ve added a few tasters below just for now.
