Goldsborough Hall wedding of Sophie and Nicholas
Sophie and Nicholas were married at Goldsborough Hall last week, on an absolute scorcher of a day. Beautiful blue skies set off Goldsborough Hall fabulously, with the mature gardens in full bloom and looking totally amazing.
The civil wedding ceremony was held in the Sir Richard Hutton Dining Room at Goldsborough Hall . Sophie and Nicholas’ wedding guests enjoyed canapes and drinks on the lawn during the afternoon. A full wedding reception was held later in The Princess Mary Drawing Room for the couple and their guests.
During the afternoon, I spent a short while with the newliweds walking the gardens and taking the sort of photos we photographers dream of. It’s always a pleasure when we get a gorgeous bride, a striking venue, and then the final ingredient – stonking good weather and amazing skies to play with.
At one point we had a passing cloud which rained on us for 5 mins – a blessed relief I think. Possibly the only rain cloud in Yorkshire came our way to cool us down before we moved on for a few more shots in front of the house.
After dinner, Sophie and Nicholas planned their first dance and a ceilidh band for their guests.
In fairness, it was just too hot for everything to be inside to start with. So the Silver Thistle Ceilidh Band took the entertainment outdoors and on to the lawn.
It was a stroke of genius – brilliant fun for the guests and a spontaneous ‘something different’ at a gorgeous summer wedding.
Wedding guests were treated to sausage and bacon sandwiches for supper, and the most delicious lemon wedding cake (or so I’m led to believe!) to follow.
Guests were invited to leave their signed thumbprints on a framed ‘tree’, which I thought was a lovely idea, and a lasting keepsake from the wedding day for the couple.
I’ve added a few teaser photos below from the wedding, and am really looking forward to seeing Sophie and Nicholas again when they return from honeymoon, to show them their full set of photographs.
