Angela and Bruno marry at Fangfoss Church and the KP Club, Kilnwick Percy

Wedding photography at Fangfoss Church and The KP Club, Kilnwick Percy

I first met Angela a few years ago. She is the sister-in-law of Chris White of Superior Motor Cars, our favourite classic car hire company. We’ve known Chris and his wife Niki for as long as we’ve been in business, and it was a delight to be invited to the wedding and photograph Angela and Bruno. Of course Chris put out a full compliment of wedding cars (we wouldn’t expect anything less), and we were treated to a wonderful convoy of shiny Classic wedding cars throughout the day.

The day was as perfect a summer’s day as you might imagine – clear blue skies, many of the guests walking to Fangoss Church across the otherwise peaceful village green. Bruno and his supporting cast of groomsmen look very dapper in their wedding suits. Once everyone was inside church, Angela arrived with her two young bridesmaids and her father Ken. They took a very gentle stroll to the church door entrance and waited whilst the vicar read her notices to the guests.

Bruno’s family is Italian, Bruno and Angela live in Canada, they met in America where the third arm of the White family live, so their guests came from far and wide. If ever you wanted to show off a quaint English village summer wedding at its best to overseas visitors, this would be the type of wedding you would have in mind. After the service, Angela and Bruno spent some time outside church mingling with friends and family, before leaving them for a short while to have photographs in Burnby Hall gardens in Pocklington. Before they could, however, Bruno had to free everyone from the church grounds by cutting open the ribbons tying the church gates together. East Yorkshire tradition says he must throw generous handfuls of loose coin to the local children before being allowed to free himself and his new bride.

Burnby Hall gardens

The gardens at Burnby Hall were as good as I’ve ever seen them. It’s fair to say they were in full bloom. We strolled down to the bridge at the far end of the gardens, stopping here and there for the odd photo opportunity. It was soon time to head for the Golf Club at Kilnwick Percy where the wedding guests awaited the newlyweds.

The wedding reception and wedding breakfast were expertly overseen by KP Club manager Paul Hannon, and I have to say, the food was delicious.

The speeches were extremely funny, including contributions from Angela’s ‘tart’ friends and Bruno’s best man and new brother in law Derek. Bridesmaids Taylor and Isabelle each read to Angela, and the (very emotional) highlight must surely have been when Derek showed pre recorded videos of Bruno’s Italian parents and family, who were unable to attend on the day.

I was delighted to receive a gift of Ice Wine from Angela and Bruno. I might just open one of the bottles for Mother’s Day, I’ve been saving it for something special.
