Dunrobin Castle Weddings Photography
What makes Dunrobin Castle a great place for weddings?
Dunrobin Castle weddings are simply amazing, there are no two ways to describe the setting and surroundings of the castle and its grounds. Coupled with the opportunity to get married at Dornoch Cathedral a short drive away in Dornoch, and couples have what must be on of the finest combinations of church and reception venues available in the whole of the UK. Dornoch Castle itself is set some 500 feet above the beach, overlooking the North Sea. Its interior is very light and airy, and has ample room for a large wedding reception. Smaller wedding parties can dine in the castle itself, larger weddings will dine in the marquee set on the grass just outside the castle gates and overlooking the sea. Access to the marquee is just a short walk through the splendidly well kept gardens.

We have been lucky enough to photograph two amazing weddings at Dornoch Cathedral and Dunrobin Castle, one with family roots traceable through the Sutherland family itself. The Southerland countryside, the coastal views, the drive through, everything is breathtaking. The castle has opportunities for indoor photography in poor weather, alternatively the gardens and beach give couples the option for something different.

How to find Dornoch Cathedral
Well, at the risk of sounding flippant, you can’t miss it. If you drive into the centre of Dornoch (a right hand turn off the A9 when travelling North, follow the signpost) Dornoch Cathedral is on your left hand side, and you really really can’t miss it. The Rev Susan Brown is also the nicest of vicars to work with.
How to find Dunrobin Castle
Follow the A9 North after Inverness, passing through Golspie after approx 50 miles. Approx 1 mile further on, on your right, is the entrance to Dunrobin Castle. You actually see the exit first, a warning that the entrance is imminent. The approach is along a very wide drive which opens into an ample car park. The aspect is very Gothic on the approach, with a more French Chateau appearance from the garden view.
