Wedding Photography Dornoch Cathedral Dunrobin Castle
A couple of years ago we were asked to photograph a wedding at Dornoch Cathedral and Dunrobin Castle in Sutherland, Scotland, we had a fantastic time and produced a gorgeous wedding album This was spotted by Lisa and Martin from Inverness, who recently invited us back to Scotland to photograph their own wedding at Dornoch Cathedral and Dunrobin Castle.
One of my most vivid memories form the first wedding was that the couple had a piper who played them out of the Cathedral to the tune of ‘Highland Cathedral’, accompanied by the Cathedral organist. This time the bride, Lisa, was played into the Cathedral by their own piper, again accompanied by the Cathedral organist, and playing Highland Cathedral – a bride can wish for no grander entrance. Lisa and Martin were blessed with a glorious day, she was dressed to kill in an Ian Stuart classic, and it is just such a pleasure to photograph a happy, confident, smiling bride. Lisa’s brief to me was simple, she wanted stunning photographs, and the options, given her choice of locations, allowed for Cathedral, Castle, garden, beach, and night time photography all in one massive fun packed wedding.
The biggest display of flowers I have ever seen at a wedding was supplied by Stephen Seedhouse, in Nairn, the wedding was discreetly co-ordinated by Janet Reid of Nairn, the Ian Stuart dress was supplied by Avorio Bridal Ltd in Fochabers, and the wedding video was filmed by Ross from Thistle Production Ltd. Have a look here for a short edit from their wedding video.
Dunrobin Castle itself is set on cliffs approx 400 feet above the North Sea, it’s French Chateaux style exterior overlooks well manicured gardens. Inside is furnished to a very high standard, and the staff are extremely accomodating. The wedding ran to time, and the catering was superb.
To get a real feel for the wedding as you look through these images, try humming ‘Highland Cathedral’ to yourself as you browse…….
Lisa and Martin enjoyed a walk on the beach in the evening, with their bridesmaid and a few friends, and as soon as it was dark enough, everyone lit Chinese lanterns and then watched a fireworks display, before heading back inside the marquee to boogy the night away to a live band..jpg)
